ADMIN POSITIONS (TEMPORARY)

Would you like experience in admin and office work?

Interested in a development opportunity while being supported?

Our Admin and Early Learning Connection Teams are anticipating a bigger workload in the next few months.

We are inviting Baringa staff who may be interested in applying for temporary admin positions to support our day to day operations. Training and ongoing mentoring will be provided to help you in the roles.

We will have a casual interview to talk through your application. Applicants who are deemed successful may be offered a position anytime in the next 12 months. This is called a "merit list".

+ What is involved?

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Reception duties and being the first point of contact for enquiries through phone, email and in person
  • Office management, such as ordering, coordinating messages with the team, filing, scanning and organising
  • Liaising with stakeholders and joining meetings with contractors, community members, program participants, government contacts, other early learning centres
  • Assisting in projects, such as events, workshops and sessions which engage others in the community.
  • Working as an effective team member to support others in the Admin or Early Learning Connection Teams.

+ When will the position/s be available?

The roles will commence as opportunities become available, but could be from March 2023, and over the April school holidays.

The roles are temporary depending on the workload. Some examples:

  • One day per week, or up to 4 days per week
  • The role could be for 2 to 8 weeks for each opportunity

+ Who can apply?

Current Baringa permanent and casual staff, who:

  • Are interested in learning new skills and bring their own ideas
  • Have great customer service skills, enjoys building relationships with families, community members and other stakeholders
  • Are organised, comfortable with technology and work well under pressure
  • Have initiative, motivated and able to work independently
  • Enjoy supporting others and contributing in a team
  • Would like a professional development opportunity

The wage will be matched with your current educator pay rate. When Baringa is able to get funding for more ongoing projects we may be able to create more ongoing admin roles.

+ Where will the position be?

The position will be at the Baringa front office or at Baringa's Early Learning Connection workspace in Belconnen.

Depending on the role, you may work directly with:

  • Community Engagement Officer, Rachael Stephenson
  • Centre Director, Betty Lam and Educational Leader, Catie Daley
  • Program Manager, Leanne McKean
  • Educator Coaches, Ellen Ayamiseba and Peta Obersteller

+ Will I still be able to work as an educator?

Depening on the role and workload, you may still be able to work as an educator on other days, if this is your preference.
